Jobie L. Martin Classroom Building, Hinds Community College
Client: State of Mississippi, Hinds Community College
Program: Provide an academic building to accommodate campus growth. Include standard classrooms, biology and chemistry laboratories and faculty offices.
Site: Academic/Technical Center Campus of Hinds Community College in Jackson, MS
Project: The design is durable and efficient with a repetitive plan, well proportioned classrooms, and clear service distribution. A complete double shell construction reduces solar gain and the cooling load. The building shape and enclosure utilizes beneficial natural light and limits glare. The public space of the open hall and stairs provides study and gathering spaces outside the classrooms.
Status: Construction complete.
Learn through research. Allow your research to teach. Instead of simply asking a question or identifying a problem, research the issues and propose answers or solutions for discussion. Keep clear notes of your research so that others (and you, after it has faded in your memory) can learn from and expand it. (Foundation #33)
